TOUR OF FLORENCE AND VENICE

FlorenceAfter a short panoramic tour of its northern part, the tour will leave Rome, by the "Sun Route" motorway, crossing the regions Lazio and Umbria, to reach the destination: Florence. City of Etruscan-Roman origins, it flourished in the Middle Ages as a free comune. Further refined by the Renaissance Art and enriched by the Medici rule, Florence is the cradle of Italian language. Situated on both banks of the Arno river and surrounded by the Apennine hills, cradle of Renaissance ,home of Dante, Machiavelli , Michelangelo and the Medici Family .Florence overwhelming in its wealth of art , culture and history. In the lap of time of 3 hours you will stop in Piazzale Michelangelo for an overview of city’s tile roof, steeples and domes. Re-board the minibus and drive to the Accademia Gallery, Europe’s first school of drawing founded in mid 16th century and visit several masterpieces including Michelangelo’s statue of David. Afterwards, proceed to the very heart of Florence and pause at the Cathedral square to view the Duomo, the Baptistery and Giotto’s Bell tower .The impact and the magnitude of the Cathedral is awesome. The splendid building is adorned with green, red and white marble. The interior houses priceless works of art including Michelangelo’s descent from the cross. Proceed through some of Florence’s most elegant streets to the city’s largest square Piazza della Signoria.This was the old center of Florentine life. View the Uffizi Gallery building in the form of a horseshoe extending from Piazza della Signoria to the Arno river. The Uffizi consist of 44 rooms housing paintings of Cimabue , Giotto ,Botticelli, Leonardo Da Vinci.

Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant in the piazza, then if time permits you will be able to have time at your leisure for shopping before visiting S.Croce church. It contains the tombs of Michelangelo ,Machiavelli, and Galileo and is also known for its frescoes by masters such as Giotto, Proceed the drive north through the Appenine hills to romantic Venice where the tour will end.
